Mountain Playground

After an early climb away from the pass, the trees fall away and views deep into Idaho greet us. The trail wends through wide bear grass filled slopes dotted with orange foliage changing with the season. Our route takes us repeatedly into and out of these grassy slopes before we catch the first view of a deep blue lake in the valley below.

Between the open ridges, lakeshore, and cliff faces in between, this lollipop trail run offers a little a bit of everything. We get some good steep climbing, some fun flowy trail, and enough mountain eye candy to entertain all day long.

Did we mention goats? While we can't promise you'll see mountain goats, there is a very high chance you'll see them on the slopes above you as you run along either of the two lakes we see on this tour. Whenever you're running near mountain goats, you know you're in for an adventure.

Feel Wild In Montana

This is a true mountain run with nearly 3,000' of climbing in 11 miles. But a lot of this elevation gain comes in one big climb that we take at a steady hiking effort so there are still plenty of fun runnable miles. This is a great opportunity for intermediate trail runners to join us on a guided trail run! Remember all of our runs are adventure style, not races. Run at your own pace!

Take the time for pictures, breathers, and to enjoy the view; enjoy the wildness of trail running. We do still recommend that you are capable of running at least 12 miles and gaining 2,000′ on trail before joining us for the Lakes and Goats.

The Lakes and Goats Alpine Running Guides trip is permitted to be on the Lolo National Forest. Permission granted by the Superior Ranger District of the United States Forest Service.

Includes

-A guided trail running adventure on a beautiful trail
-Transportation to and from the trailhead
-A post-run meal
-The appropriate amount of geeky local trivia
-Photos for social media
-Alpine Running Guides technical hat, or t-shirt
-A stress free day in the mountains
